This page is a work in progress – will perhaps remove some of these steps as we tweak the CV Generator itself.
How to finalise the chosen template generated from the Sli Nua Careers CV Generator
[checklist]
- Delete heading e.g.: ‘1 – Classic Work-led CV Template’.
- Take note of the line which gives info like this. ‘BULLET POINTS/LISTS: GEORGIA, 12PT’
- Change the font of the entire CV to the font listed above.
- The headings should all be the right size. However, you will need to amend what we will call the ‘body text’ (i.e. the normal text underneath headings) to the font size listed in red above.
- Add bullet points to each of the Key Achievements, Skills, & Characteristics, if necessary.
- Delete things like ‘$REFEREE DESCRIPTION$’, $JOB_ACHIEVEMENTES_1$’ and ‘$OTHER_INTERESTS$’ in order to write these up for the client ????why do you say this Eleanor? Should these not be written at CV writing stage prior to generating the CV?
- Tighten up the bulleted list of duties for each individual job under the heading of ‘Employment History’, so that there is no space between the date and the first bulleted point.
- Bold the start and end dates relating to each individual job worked, if necessary.
- If there is important information missing such as addresses for each individual employer, then google the business and confirm with the client that the address is accurate. Next to the address you have found, include a direct question to the client requesting confirmation that it’s correct.
- Ensure that spacing between headings and sub-headings is consistent throughout the CV.
- Delete any extra and spaces in the section on ‘Education & Qualifications’, or other sections.
- Tidy up the section titled ‘REFEREES’ at the bottom of the CV so that the details appear in an ordered fashion
- Ensure that the CV is edited to the length of two pages.
- There is diagonal grey line in each CV template, which is a watermark. In PCs, this is removed by going to Page Layout on top menu, Watermark, and Remove Watermark.
